- According to a 2020 to 2024 U.S. Census Bureau report, the average commute time of Surprise workers is 30.2 minutes. This may indicate regular daily driving, although the source does not establish frequent stop and go traffic or consistent mileage for all drivers. (Source)
- Unlike some states where you may need to pay an additional property tax on your vehicle, Arizona does not impose a separate local annual personal property tax on a vehicle registered in Surprise. Instead, Arizona applies the Vehicle License Tax at registration in place of the former ad valorem vehicle tax. (Source)
- In Arizona, the Vehicle License Tax for all counties in Arizona is determined by taking 60 percent of the manufacturer’s base retail price and decreasing it by 16.25 percent for each year after the vehicle is first registered in the State of Arizona, and then taxing it at the rate of $2.80 for every $100 of new vehicle value and $2.89 per $100 of used vehicle value. (Source)
- Beginning October 1, 2024, Surprise charges a 2.8 percent city use tax rate. This tax can apply when a vehicle is purchased without equivalent tax being paid and is then brought into the city for storage, use, or consumption. (Source)
- Vehicles registered in Surprise are part of the Phoenix metropolitan area emissions program. If you live in the area, there is an emissions testing site for your vehicle at 13425 W. Westgate Dr. in Surprise. Vehicles manufactured within the last five years, those manufactured in 1966 or earlier, and electric vehicles do not need an emissions test under Arizona’s emissions regulations and standards. - The US 60 Loop 303 corridor around Surprise faces significant traffic stress. ADOT’s alternatives study states that a new interchange at 155th Avenue would reduce traffic delay at the intersection of US 60 and 163rd Avenue by an average of 2.3 minutes during PM rush hour and reduce traffic on 163rd Avenue north of US 60 by 33.1 percent. - The City of Surprise states that vehicles impounded under certain Arizona statutes may be held for seven or 20 days before release. I did not verify the specific claim that any vehicle not moved in 72 hours is automatically regarded as abandoned in Surprise, so that statement should not be presented as confirmed without a city-code source. What Are Cadillac Vehicle’s Most Common & Costly Issues Affecting Arizonans?

Common Cadillac issues experienced by owners in Arizona include eight-speed transmission problems, touchscreen delamination, collapsed V8 lifters, L87 engine problems, and all-wheel-drive component wear in CT6 models. These issues can require costly engine, transmission, electronic, and drivetrain repairs, making it important to perform a VIN-specific recall check, review maintenance records, and conduct a thorough mechanical inspection.
Cadillac has produced many cars in the past decade. These include sedans such as the turbocharged ATS and CTS and the complex CT6, XT-series crossover SUVs, and the body-on-frame Escalade.
All vehicles have weak points, but some need costly repairs or close attention to manufacturers’ service recommendations. Here are some of the most important ones: GM eight-speed automatic transmission shudder, CUE screen problems, V8 lifter problems, L87 engine recall and wear of all-wheel-drive parts of the CT6.

8L45 and 8L90 Torque-Converter Shudder
GM’s eight-speed automatic transmission shudder affected certain Cadillac models and became one of the better-known drivability issues during this period.
GM engineering information for 2017-2018 Cadillac ATS, CTS, and CT6 models with 8L45 or 8L90 transmissions, as well as 2017 Escalades, describes reports of shaking and shuddering while driving. GM also instructed technicians on the necessary torque-converter-clutch diagnostic procedures.
Another GM bulletin provides detailed operating parameters for identifying TCC shudder on ATS, ATS-V, CT6, CTS-V, and Escalade vehicles. This vibration generally occurs under load and in higher gears. It differs from other vibrations because it occurs when the torque converter clutch engages.
GM records for certain 2015 and 2016 Escalades equipped with the 8L90 eight-speed transmission provide specific repair instructions to mechanics. After they confirm the shudder condition using the service bulletin’s procedures, the instructions call for replacing the torque converter.
If a used Cadillac feels as though it is driving over a rough road at 60 mph, check for transmission shudder before purchase.
Cadillac CUE Touchscreen Delamination
Cadillac’s CUE infotainment system had a different, noticeable problem.
The GM bulletin PIC6055B pertains to the ATS, SRX and XTS models of the years from 2013 to 2016. It also includes CTS, ELR and Escalade models for the years from 2014 to 2016. The bulletin also covers the 2016 model year.
GM recorded screens with bubbling or delamination behind the lens. The recommended solution was to replace the Integrated Center Stack (ICS).
According to GM’s bulletin, this malfunction can affect the touchscreen’s appearance. Because CUE controls several functions in the car, a nonworking touchscreen is more than a problem with the radio.
Used Cadillacs should be inspected with the screen both cold and fully warmed. Look for cloudy areas, spiderweb-like separation beneath the surface, unresponsive zones and phantom inputs.
2021 Escalade Collapsed Lifters
The 6.2L L87 V8 engine in the 2021 Escalade has a separate engine issue discussed in the GM Preliminary Information bulletin PIP5776.
According to GM, some vehicles came with P0300-P0308 misfire fault codes, bent pushrods, and either a collapsed lifter or a disintegrated one. The actual cause was termed as an issue with the internal lifter.
According to GM, all the lifters as well as the lifter guides in both cylinder banks may be replaced in Escalades manufactured in the period between September 1, 2020 and March 31, 2021, depending on mileage and the confirmed problem. For vehicles with more than 16,000 miles, the bulletin specifies replacement on the affected bank only.
The usual symptoms of this problem include ticking or tapping sounds from the engine, vibrations while idling, reduced power, and the check-engine light illuminating or flashing.
Because lifter replacement requires opening the top of the V8, it involves more work than replacing a coil or spark plug, even when the initial symptom is only a misfire code.
2021-2024 Escalade 6.2L L87 Engine Failure Recall
The more recent L87 powertrain problems are not associated with the lifter issue.
In 2025, GM issued NHTSA Campaign 25V274, which resulted in a recall of 597,630 GM trucks and SUVs with the 6.2L L87 V8 engine. The affected vehicles include Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV models from 2021 to 2024 and other associated Chevrolet and GMC models.
According to General Motors, there might be manufacturing defects in the connecting rod and/or crankshaft parts that might lead to engine failure or damage. It is crucial to note that engine failure while on the road may lead to engine shutting down or loss of power which increases the chances of getting into accidents.
The Cadillac portion of this large GM recall was significant: GM’s defect report identified 79,673 standard Escalades, along with 46,267 Escalade ESVs.
According to NHTSA, the remedy involves inspection and engine repair or replacement when required. Vehicles that pass inspection receive updated engine oil, an oil filter, an oil fill cap, and updated owner information.
This recall makes VIN verification essential for anyone buying a 2021-2024 6.2L Escalade.
CT6 AWD Intermediate-Shaft and Bearing Wear
The CT6 has its own AWD driveline problem. GM issued bulletin 21-NA-230 addressing the issue in 2016-2020 CT6 AWD models.
While driving the vehicle, people may notice sounds such as whining, whirring, squeaking, grinding, or roaring at speeds up to approximately 40 mph.
GM has mentioned that the noise can be attributed to fretting between the front intermediate shaft and its bearing/housing. According to the prescribed repair, both components shall be replaced.
Earlier GM service information showed that for the CT6, replacement of the shaft and bearing housing would take an additional 5.7 hours after diagnosis. The allowance for ATS applications was even higher and equal to about 6.9 hours while CTS ones were estimated at around 7.0 hours.
That labor requirement explains why a relatively small AWD component can become an expensive out-of-warranty repair.
Arizona Ownership Considerations
These Cadillac problems are not specific to Arizona and cannot be blamed on the state.
Arizona does play a role in the standard maintenance of the vehicles, particularly in the case of bigger SUVs with V8 engines. Thus, it is important to pay reasonable attention to any cooling-system condition, oil quantity, battery condition as well as transmission fluid.
One should also evaluate the cabin electronics well. GM does not identify Arizona’s hot climate as the cause of the CUE touchscreen delamination described in the bulletin, yet it may provide clues regarding the proper care of the vehicle; a used luxury vehicle with plenty of peeling screens or trims may provide information concerning storage.
Conclusion
The most costly issues with newer Cadillac models can be either technological malfunctions or severe engine faults. The delaminating issue of the CUE touchscreen may become annoying and costly, problems with the eight-speed torque converter will have a negative effect on driving, the CT6 repairs could require expensive work, and for the owners of such a luxury model as the Escalade, there are even more serious problems related to lifters and the 6.2L L87 engine.
The most important factor is determining exactly what engine, transmission and model year a specific Cadillac contains. If a Cadillac is old and/or damaged enough that the cost of the engine, transmission and electronic repairs no longer seems worth it for the owner, Sell Us Your Car can help in the form of buying used or junk cars all over Arizona.
All Lexus RXs Wanted in Arizona for Cash
RX 300, RX 330, RX 350, RX 350L, RX 400h, RX 450h, RX 450hL, RX 350 F SPORT, RX 350 Premium, RX 350 Premium+, RX 350 Luxury, RX 350 F SPORT Design, RX 350 F SPORT Handling, RX 350h, RX 350h F SPORT Design, RX 450h+ Premium, RX 450h+ Luxury, RX 500h F SPORT Performance
The Lexus RX debuted in the United States in 1998 for the 1999 model year and became the vehicle that started the class of modern luxury crossover SUVs. Instead of being built on a truck-type platform like many luxury SUVs of those times, the RX was constructed using a car-type unibody which was more efficient. Additionally, it accommodated five passengers, could have all-wheel drive, and had a 220 horsepower 3.0L V6 engine. With each new generation of RX, Lexus has implemented newer versions with better engine technology including hybrid engines, three-row variants, and turbocharged performance models.
This guideline is applicable only to Lexus RX cars sold within the U.S. and is based upon findings done till September 2026. Arizona is still the assessed market. Therefore, the study analyzes the overall condition throughout Arizona and, more specifically, Phoenix, where conditions matter considerably. Arizona has limited corrosion from road salt, but the negative implications of hot climate, sunlight exposure, traction battery operating temperature, lifespan of battery, cooling efficiency of the AC, state of the cooling system, tire conditions, damage to the leather and dashboard, decrease in the quality of weather seals, and water accumulation caused by the monsoon need to be studied.
Significant changes in value development refer to the release of the RX 330 second generation in 2004, RX 400h hybrid model, the redesign of RX 350 and RX 450h in 2010, the launch of fourth generation RX in 2016, and the redesign of fifth generation RX in 2023. The latest RX family is quite extensive and includes turbocharged RX 350, hybrid RX 350h, RX 450h+ model with an EPA-estimated electric range of 38 miles, and RX 500h F SPORT Performance with 366 horsepower. Moreover, Lexus speaks of an upcoming RX model of 2027 with the same four powertrains.
In the guide, all dollar amounts reflect expected requirements an entity like Sell Us Your Car or a similar vehicle buyer is likely to incur instead of the asking prices of vehicle dealers. Offers do not take into consideration factors of transportation, inspection, refurbishing, overhead, and mark-up. Hence, the relation between generation, mileage, engine component, trim level, drivetrain, history of the vehicle, title and accident history, condition of the battery and overall physical condition of the vehicle will substantially influence the ultimate price of the vehicle.
How Much Your Good-Running RX May Be Worth in Arizona
The dealer purchase estimates take into account factors such as year of manufacture of a model, model generation, model grade, type of engine, drive type (front-wheel or all-wheel drive), mileage, history of maintenance, state of the equipment, etc.
| Model years | Estimated dealer purchase range | Main value factors |
|---|---|---|
| 1999–2003 | $1,500–$6,500 | RX 300, front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, mileage, transmission condition, cooling system, timing-belt history, air conditioning, interior condition, title history |
| 2004–2009 | $3,000–$10,000 | RX 330, RX 350, RX 400h, front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, hybrid battery condition, service records, leather condition, navigation and electronics |
| 2010–2015 | $6,000–$17,500 | RX 350, RX 450h, front-wheel drive, all-wheel drive, hybrid condition, mileage, service history, premium equipment, accident history |
| 2016–2022 | $13,000–$34,000 | RX 350, RX 350L, RX 450h, RX 450hL, F SPORT, Luxury, all-wheel drive, mileage, three-row configuration, safety technology, cosmetic condition |
| 2023–2027 | $30,000–$62,000 | RX 350, RX 350h, RX 450h+, RX 500h, Premium, Premium+, Luxury, F SPORT Design, F SPORT Handling, F SPORT Performance, battery condition, mileage, drivetrain, equipment |
A reliable RX model should function well and be able to start up, operate properly, change gears, operate the steering and slow down, be clean in terms of the ownership history, be almost completely intact and have mileage proportional to its age, and also require minor repairs if any. Old RX 300 and RX 330 models become more and more dependent on their state, while newer RX 350, RX 450h, F SPORT, Luxury, and other vehicles with lower mileage are more valuable and desirable.
Generation 2016-2022 continues to play a significant role in the used-luxury market as it features an effective combination of naturally aspirated V6 horsepower with modern safety and infotainment technology. Both RX 350L and RX 450hL models may carry a different price than standard two-row models as both vehicles have a few extra seats while the third row has limited space. The updated 2023 generation brings a great divide between RX 350, RX 350h, RX 450h+, and RX 500h models.
When it comes to the Arizona inspection priorities, one can expect to spot significant factors such as the capability of the air-conditioning system, the cooling system functioning, tire age, condition of battery, signs of leather and dashboard damage, weather seals, and signs of water caused by storms. Sell Us Your Car should also check the condition of the hybrid system as well as check plug-in charge of RX 450h+ models and the mechanism of the all-wheel drive.
How Much Your Crashed or Junk RX May Be Worth in Arizona
Cars that are either not running or in an accident, mechanically compromised or damaged, can still provide good value to dealers and salvage buyers when it comes to their engines, transmissions, hybrids, electrical parts, interior fittings, exterior bodywork, lighting, as well as many luxury features that are part of the car.
| Model years | Estimated dealer or salvage purchase range | Main value factors |
|---|---|---|
| 1999–2003 | $300–$1,800 | 3.0-liter V6, transmission, catalytic converters, all-wheel-drive hardware, doors, liftgate, wheels, leather interior, title availability, structural damage |
| 2004–2009 | $500–$3,000 | 3.3-liter or 3.5-liter V6, RX 400h battery and inverter, transmission, all-wheel-drive components, catalytic converters, lighting, navigation, interior parts |
| 2010–2015 | $800–$5,000 | 3.5-liter V6, RX 450h battery, inverter, electric motors, transmission, LED lighting, cameras, airbags, wheels, premium interior, repairability |
| 2016–2022 | $1,500–$8,500 | V6 engine, hybrid battery, electric motors, F SPORT components, LED lighting, cameras, radar hardware, infotainment, wheels, body panels, title status |
| 2023–2027 | $4,000–$20,000 | 2.4-liter turbo, hybrid battery, plug-in battery, inverter, electric motors, DIRECT4 hardware, digital displays, cameras, F SPORT components, structural condition |
Older RX models, including RX 300, RX 330, and RX 350, can keep the value of their components intact thanks to many parts like V6 engines, automatic transmissions, catalytic converters, all-wheel-drive parts, doors, tailgates, rims, leather seating, and climate-control modules. This is so because the cosmetic repair of luxury cars usually costs a lot of money.
Hybrid systems feature batteries of traction, motor-generators, inverters, equipment for power management, electrically powered accessories, and cooling systems. These components might enhance the overall worth of the vehicle assuming they are in a working state but an old or broken hybrid battery might reduce the cost the customer will pay for the vehicle.
New generation RX models come with extra expensive cameras, radar sensors, digital displays, turbocharged engines, LED headlights, electronic suspension parts, and advanced hybrid systems. RX 450h+ model comes with a bigger lithium-ion battery, plus the charging and plug-in facilities while RX 500h comes with the specialized DIRECT4 all-wheel drive and other performance tools.
The status of the title affects the calculations. An RX with a salvaged title must meet all restoration requirements of Arizona, which include a Level III inspection and emissions compliance where applicable before being allowed to operate on roads again. Various issues like bent structural components, deployed airbags, floods, battery damage, fire, missing catalytic converters, and cost of towing can lead to a lower acquisition price of the vehicle.
Lexus RX Trim Levels
The series of trim levels for the RX has evolved from a single vehicle into a wider family of luxury crossovers that use gasoline, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, performance, and other variants. The RX was mostly marketed as RX 300, which is the name of the first generation.
| Model years | Common U.S. trims, generally entry to premium |
|---|---|
| 1999–2003 | RX 300, front-wheel drive, available all-wheel drive, 3.0-liter V6 |
| 2004–2009 | RX 330, RX 350, RX 400h, front-wheel drive, all-wheel drive, gasoline and hybrid configurations |
| 2010–2015 | RX 350, RX 450h, F SPORT on selected later years, front-wheel drive, all-wheel drive |
| 2016–2022 | RX 350, RX 350 F SPORT, RX 350L, RX 450h, RX 450hL, Luxury and F SPORT configurations, two-row and three-row bodies |
| 2023–2027 | RX 350, RX 350 Premium, Premium+, Luxury, F SPORT Design, F SPORT Handling, RX 350h, RX 450h+ Premium, RX 450h+ Luxury, RX 500h F SPORT Performance |
The second generation marked the creation of RX 330s, RX 350s, and RX 400hs, with the next generation being focused on RX 350 and RX 450h. The fourth generation brought a lot of F SPORT models, while the later years of this generation saw the emergence of RX 350L and RX 450hL vehicles.
The revamped RX for 2023 has established a more complex structure based on powertrains and packages. The 2026 RX 350 gas variants can be accessed in Standard, Premium, Premium+, Luxury, F SPORT Design, and F SPORT Handling in terms of drivetrain combinations. The RX 350h Hybrid uses Standard, Premium, Premium+, Luxury, and F SPORT Design options.
The RX 450h+ Plug-in Hybrid is accessible in two options for 2026, Premium and Luxury. The RX 500h is sold in the F SPORT Performance version. At the same time the 2027 model has been announced with different trim options: Premium, Premium+, Luxury, F SPORT Design, F SPORT Handling as well as F SPORT Performance options.

Hyundai
Founded 1967 in Seoul, South Korea by Chung Ju-yungFounded in South Korea by Chung Ju-yung in 1967, Hyundai Motor Company evolves from a business that simply assembles vehicles from kits into a large scale multinational automaker.
Hyundai sells and produces vehicles in the United States through Hyundai Motor America and also operates a Georgia Metaplant that builds electric vehicles and hybrid models.
Compared with traditional competitors, Hyundai stands out through its extended warranty program, broad product lineup, and exclusive EV and hybrid options, along with performance vehicles available under both brands Hyundai and N.
About Automaker Hyundai
Hyundai is primarily a brand that focuses on offering value to consumers. It offers a combination of modern styling, many features, long warranty coverage, and generally competitive safety and fuel efficiency.
Most Hyundai vehicles provide a good overall level of reliability, although this can vary depending on the model year, engine type, or transmission type. Safety remains one of the brand’s major strengths, as several Hyundai models have received an IIHS Top Safety Pick award or an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award in the past 4 years.
Pricing is typically very competitive relative to the features offered, meaning many consumers can usually count on getting more technology and comfort for their money than they would when purchasing from other manufacturers.
All Hyundai vehicles deliver solid fuel economy for their respective engine types, especially when considering the company’s Ioniq lineup, which helps elevate the brand’s overall electric vehicle credentials. From a driving-experience perspective, Hyundai vehicles are designed primarily to provide easy operation, a quiet ride, and overall drivability rather than outright sportiness, except for certain N Series models.
A key factor in attracting potential customers to Hyundai cars is the company’s U.S. warranty on its vehicles, although the experience at dealerships and service departments varies greatly by location throughout the U.S.
Here are a few Hyundai facts to consider:
- Hyundai relies heavily on the vehicle warranty when it is resold. In the United States, Hyundai provides a 10 year and 100,000 mile powertrain limited warranty to the original owner and a five year and 60,000 mile limited new vehicle warranty. (Hyundai; Hyundai)
- If you are trying to position a typical Hyundai sedan for sale such as a 2025 Elantra SE, pricing is an important part of communicating value to your customer. For example, the 2025 Elantra SE has an MSRP (Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price) of $21,875 plus a $1,150 freight charge. (Hyundai)
- Hyundai gives dealers a strong bragging point: the 2025 Ioniq 5 Long Range RWD has an EPA rated range of up to 318 miles. The AWD models also have varying EPA ranges, but the highest range among the AWD trims is lower than the 318 mile RWD maximum. (Hyundai; Hyundai)
- Need a practical SUV stat? Hyundai lists the 2025 Tucson at up to 2,000 pounds of towing with trailer brakes, or 1,650 pounds without them. (Hyundai)
- The Tucson earned an IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus for 2025, with many other Hyundai models also making the 2025 award list. A safe vehicle can help justify its asking price. (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety; Insurance Institute for Highway Safety)
- As of March 2026, Kelley Blue Book predicts that over five years the 2025 Hyundai Tucson loses approximately $17,388 in value, which equals an average of roughly $3,477 per year. (Kelley Blue Book)
- An advantage to a customer purchase is Hyundai’s credible domestic investment footprint. Hyundai Motor Group said it increased its planned U.S. investment to $26 billion from 2025 through 2028, with the expansion expected to create about 25,000 direct jobs. (Hyundai)
- The EPA 2025 Automotive Trends Report provides information on vehicle fuel economy. According to the report, Hyundai’s fleet in the U.S. averages 29.8 miles per gallon for model year 2024, which places Hyundai behind both Tesla and Honda among large manufacturers. (EPA)
- If you have a Palisade, check your campaign history, because Hyundai notified owners of certain 2020 to 2024 Palisades about an extension of seat belt warranty coverage due to a twisting issue to 10 years or 100,000 miles. (NHTSA)
All Hyundai Cars Wanted
We are purchasing Nissan vehicles across their entire lineup, including cars, vans, 4x4s, family cars, and pick ups. No requirements, we buy in any condition, and no criteria for purchasing a car with a good service history, as well as requiring a maximum mileage.
We also want Nissan vehicles with or without title, high mileage, not running, accident damaged, flood damage, mechanical and physical damage, any condition that causes the vehicle to be undrivable, and any vehicle that has been in an accident.
If you have a vehicle in one of the above categories, then we can discuss your options further (after getting an instant phone or online quote). You may also contact us if you have any specific requirements or questions relating to purchasing a pre owned Nissan vehicle.

9 Automotive Facts Related to Gilbert
Gilbert has a rich automotive history and here are a few ways ownership is impacted in the area.
- Based on the 2020 to 2024 ACS, workers in Gilbert average 25.9 minutes for their daily commute, meaning cars are still needed each day by a large share of the workforce in Gilbert. (Source)
- According to ADOT’s 2024 Crash Book, Gilbert experienced 2,914 crashes, including 21 fatal crashes, 695 injury crashes, and 123 alcohol-related crashes. If you spend a lot of time driving on arterial roads, these figures are an important indicator of the risk and vehicle wear associated with traveling on these corridors. (Source)
- ADOT is currently widening Loop 202 Santan Freeway through Chandler and Gilbert. The state says it is adding two lanes in each direction from Loop 101 to Gilbert Road and one additional lane in each direction from Gilbert Road to Val Vista Drive, which points to this important east-west corridor being under pressure. (Source) (Source)
- Gilbert says the town participates in FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program, and that there is a Community Rating System discount for policyholders in the Special Flood Hazard Area. The discount increased effective October 1, 2024, from 15 percentage to 20 percentage. (Source)
- The Town of Gilbert reports that there are 218 flood insurance policies in the town’s Special Flood Hazard Area, with an average annual premium of $775. If you store a vehicle in an area subject to flooding, that flood risk may be an important factor when deciding whether to keep or sell the vehicle. (Source)
- Gilbert provides a flood zone lookup map, and the town says it can provide a formal flood zone determination for a fee to a property owner. In this way, the property owner can check a driveway or storage area to see whether these locations are in mapped hazard areas before deciding whether to keep or sell a vehicle. (Source)
- Gilbert has rules regarding residential parking that require vehicles to be parked on improved surfaces, such as asphalt, concrete, cement, or gravel, and prohibit parking on grass or landscaped front yards. This may be of concern when storing an additional vehicle, spare parts for a vehicle, or project vehicles at home. (Source)
- Vehicles in the Gilbert area generally fall within the Phoenix emissions-testing area. According to ADOT and ADEQ, vehicles that are more than five years old in an emissions area generally require testing for registration, and the Voluntary Vehicle Repair Program may pay up to $900 for eligible emissions-related repairs after a failed test. (Source) (Source) (Source)
- In Arizona, there are no regular routine safety inspections for cars sold to the public. In addition, ADOT states that sellers of vehicles should submit a sold notice as soon as they transfer ownership, and a sold notice should be completed within 10 calendar days; sellers must also remove the vehicle license plate after the sale. These factors can make it easier to sell cars privately, but buyers often have to rely more on their own inspection or paperwork to confirm the vehicle’s condition and details. How Do I Check a Used Jeep’s VIN for Outstanding Recalls?

Prior to purchasing a pre-owned Jeep in Arizona, it is advisable to find out the vehicle’s 17-character VIN from Mopar and NHTSA for tracking any safety recalls, as well as completed repairs or restrictions, if applicable. Prospective owners of the Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe models must take special care regarding safety recall number 25V741 (68C), which affects specific 2020–2026 models.
Check the recall status and powertrain before buying a used Jeep. Although advertisements for the Wrangler 4xe, gas-powered Wrangler, and Grand Cherokee may seem similar, these vehicles have different powertrains and may have different recall histories.
Plug-in hybrids may also have charging and parking restrictions.
To check for outstanding recalls, a VIN lookup should be completed before taking the vehicle home. A Jeep bought in Scottsdale could show up in a garage in Chandler or be parked in the driveway in Prescott Valley or the parking lot in Flagstaff.

The Expanded 4xe Recall Requires a Fresh Check
NHTSA campaign 25V741, identified by Jeep as 68C, concerns certain Wrangler and Grand Cherokee plug-in hybrids.
An amended December 2025 filing identified 320,068 potentially affected vehicles:
Vehicle Model years listed Potentially affected vehicles Wrangler plug-in hybrid Certain 2020-2025 vehicles 228,221 Grand Cherokee plug-in hybrid Certain 2022-2026 vehicles 91,847 To verify recall information using the VIN, contact an authorized Jeep dealership. Do not assume that a receipt stating “hybrid software update done” is an indicator that the current recall process has been completed.
It is possible that the vehicle only had a software update rather than a new battery. Verify the exact repair that was done and whether the campaign is complete.
An Earlier Battery Repair May Not Be Enough
The recall also covers vehicles previously repaired under campaign 24V720. NHTSA stated that the earlier software remedy could not detect certain battery abnormalities and reported fires in some previously repaired vehicles.
For affected, unrepaired 4xe vehicles, follow Jeep’s instructions not to charge and to park outside, away from structures and other vehicles.
First, make sure to have the entire 17-character VIN before planning a viewing. You must verify that the Jeep is in fact a 4xe and check the year of the model. When inspecting, be sure to check that the VIN matches both the truck as well as its proper documentation.
Keep the advertisement, VIN, mileage, price, and recall information together. Do not confuse “hybrid,” “electric,” and “4×4,” which describe different vehicle characteristics.
Get the VIN Before Traveling Across Phoenix
A Mesa buyer can compare the Wrangler in Tempe, the Grand Cherokee in Glendale, and another Jeep in Peoria before venturing out.
For an affected 4xe, confirm whether the remedy in question has been carried out, if there are any remaining limitations that apply, and what evidence indicates that the work has been done.
In case, the seller consents to arrange for repairs, get completion documents beforehand. A repaired appointment or ordered part does not imply the fixes have been completed.
Use Mopar’s Official Recall Lookup
Enter the VIN into Mopar’s official Recalls & Service Campaigns lookup.
Save the information and contact an authorized Jeep dealer about outstanding recalls and required repairs including those not related to the battery.
If a previous recall was completed but 68C is still applicable, check with the dealer what the remedy status is before payment.
A report showing no open recalls does not mean that the battery condition, charging ability, suspension condition, and safety are guaranteed.
Cross-Check the VIN With NHTSA
NHTSA’s recall lookup generally displays open safety recalls, not completed campaigns. Newly announced recalls may also take time to appear for individual VINs.
Use NHTSA as an additional check and resolve discrepancies with Jeep.
After an authorized service center confirms that charging is safe, check the charging cable, port, indicator lights, and repair history. Recall completion does not guarantee that all the components associated with charging are functioning correctly.
Tucson Buyers Should Confirm Charging Status First
A Grand Cherokee 4xe purchased in Tucson may be used in Oro Valley, Marana, Sahuarita, or Green Valley.
Before setting up charging at home, ensure that there are no restrictions. If your vehicle is subject to recall 68C and has not been repaired, follow the instructions not to charge it and to park it outside, away from structures and other vehicles. Do not ask the seller to ignore these restrictions during the demonstration.
When traveling to Fortuna Foothills, Somerton, or San Luis, inspect the tires, cooling system, air conditioning system, and any damage that can be seen.
Do not assume that Jeeps for sale in recreational areas have only been driven on beaches. Research their history and inspect them thoroughly.
Yuma Purchases Need a Clear Collection Plan
A buyer traveling from Yuma to Avondale or Scottsdale should obtain campaign records before departing.
When taking your Jeep to Prescott, Prescott Valley, Chino Valley, or Dewey-Humboldt, ensure that the inspector makes the necessary documentation regarding suspension lifts, tires and wheels, lights, and other upgrades.
If possible, request installation records. Although the mechanic and service department can explain why these upgrades were made, that does not mean that recall repairs have been completed.
Tires, brakes, heaters, and defrosters should be maintained before cold winter weather arrives in Flagstaff, Williams, Bellemont, and Kachina Village.
Tell the inspector how you plan to use the vehicle while going on trips to the places such as Payson, Show Low, or Pinetop-Lakeside.
Prescott & Flagstaff: Inspect Modifications Carefully
For a Jeep going to Prescott or nearby Prescott Valley, ask the inspector to document vehicle modifications.
Keep records of suspension, wheel, tire, and aftermarket lighting modifications. Check with a mechanic to find out if these changes influence safety. These records do not confirm that recall work has been completed.
For each recall, keep the VIN, campaign number, completion date, mileage, and description of the work performed.
Ask a service advisor whether any new recall campaigns have additional requirements. After purchasing the vehicle, update your ownership information with Jeep in order to get future recall notices.
Do not rely on a screenshot taken months before the sale. Repeat the recall lookup near handover, especially if the Jeep has been listed for a long time or the seller’s repair history is unclear.
Keep Campaign Repairs Separate From General Maintenance
Recall verification identifies the vehicle, applicable campaigns, and remaining operating restrictions.
Verify the current status of the 4xe and its parking and charging options. If you are planning to replace your present Jeep, Sell Us Your Car is a reputable buyer of used and even damaged Wranglers, Grand Cherokees, Cherokees, Compasses, and other offerings in the state of Arizona.
A good quote will help you set your budget. When shopping for a new Jeep, review the latest VIN report, maintenance history, and inspection results, considering the vehicle’s features and intended use in Arizona.
Do not rely on an outdated screenshot. Check again near handover, particularly if the vehicle has been listed for a long time or the seller’s repair records are vague.
Buy the Jeep With Its Status Understood
A proper recall check identifies the vehicle, applicable recalls, and whether the vehicle can be used without any obstacles. Ensure that the particular vehicle being checked is a 4xe and provide the necessary charging and parking information.
If you are replacing your Jeep, Sell Us Your Car buys used and junk Wranglers, Grand Cherokees, Cherokees, Compasses, and other models throughout Arizona.
Before buying your next Jeep, use your current vehicle’s estimated value to help calculate the budget.

How Do I Sell My Car Privately in Arizona?

Selling a car in Arizona privately allows the owner to control the selling price but requires advertising, screening buyers, making sure the test drives are safe, payment verification, and following title-transfer procedures. In the end, although the process may bring one a better sale, all the expenses associated with it may take away most of its potential profits.
Postings for selling cars in Arizona approach individual buyers through different means of advertising. One may use automobile marketplaces and website listings; in addition, many people use social media and word-of-mouth methods.

#1 Establish the Vehicle’s Market Value
Start your research by looking into similar cars from the same year and of the same make, model, mileage, trim level, condition, title status, and main features. Keep in mind that the advertised price is not the final sale price of the car, so you need to allow for negotiation but at the same time set a realistic figure.
Determine what your acceptable minimum net amount is after deducting detailing costs, repairs, advertising expenses, a loan that needs to be paid off, transportation costs, and costs of any insurance and maintenance while the car remains listed.
#2 Prepare & Advertise the Car
The car needs to be washed, personal belongings taken out, and the title, maintenance history, invoices for services performed, warranty papers, emissions records, and information on the release of lien collected. Arizona sellers with an active lien should work with the lender and confirm the release of lien before trying to transfer the vehicle title.
Take pictures of the outside, inside, under the hood, the odometer reading, the condition of tires, cargo area, and any visible defects in proper lighting. Create a detailed listing for the car that explains mileage, title status, condition of the vehicle, maintenance history, modifications, defects, and price for the car. Do not hide any serious issues, nor make false statements that you cannot prove.
#3 Screen Buyers & Arrange Meetings
Answer questions without revealing any unnecessary personal details. Be alert for people purchasing your vehicle who ask you to perform a paid vehicle history check through an unknown website, offer to pay more than your asking price for the vehicle, or ask you to make arrangements to have someone else come to pick up the car.
When meeting serious buyers, do so during the day at a public location and with someone else around. Verify that the driver is licensed, go with him or her, and keep the keys. Make sure that your insurance covers test drives. If your buyer wants an inspection, you may let him or her use a legitimate repair shop, but only after he or she provides a valid form of payment.
#4 Complete the Sale
Discuss and finalize the price and use a written sales receipt that includes the particulars of buyer and seller, details such as vehicle identification number, mileage, agreed price, date of sale transaction, the condition the vehicle is in, and any stipulations you both have agreed upon. Additionally, you may want to check if cash has already been received before signing over the ownership of the automobile in question. Taking cash at the bank or accepting a certified check is advisable and ensures that the transaction cannot be reversed.
In Arizona, the use of eTitle Transfer on AZ MVD Now is allowed for eligible transactions among private parties. In the case of paper transactions, it is necessary to properly complete the title assignment and the odometer disclosure. Sellers in Arizona have to transfer the title, remove the license plate before the buyer takes ownership of the vehicle and file a Sold Notice.
You need to submit the Sold Notice within 10 days in order to avoid being held liable for tickets, accidents, abandonment, and any other matters related to the car. You can file the notice online via AZ MVD Now, or you can submit it by mail.
It is necessary to remove any toll tags and garage door openers that are connected to vehicles. After you sell a vehicle, you have to cancel or change your insurance since you are not the owner anymore.
#5 Assess Advantages & Disadvantages
In a private sale, the owner has the benefit of setting the price and capturing the difference between the wholesale price and the retail price. It can be especially advantageous in the case of a car that is maintained in good shape, an inexpensive older vehicle or rare model, or an automobile with an understandable story concerning its past and modifications.
Nevertheless, personal selling involves promotion, communication, test-driving the car, bargaining, signing contracts, risk of fraud, etc. It could lead to no show, lower offers, delays in payment; it leads to safety issues, loan or insurance payments, and possible disputes afterwards.
A private sale does not guarantee a greater profit. It applies best to owners who are willing to consider price as their main objective, have a vehicle that is needed locally and well maintained, know how to negotiate, and have no urgent need to finalize a sale.

All Honda Civics Wanted in Arizona for Cash
DX, LX, CX, VX, HX, EX, EX-L, Si, SiR, Hybrid, HF, Sport, Touring, Sport Touring, Sport Hybrid, Sport Touring Hybrid, Type R
The Honda Civic was introduced to the American market around the early 70s and has become one of the longest-lasting nameplates in the compact car segment. Throughout the model’s several generations, it progressed from its initial compact hatchback version to becoming a complete range of cars including sedans, hatchbacks, coupes, high-efficiency variants, hybrids, high-performance models, and Type R. Its combination of efficiency, low cost of maintenance, extensive parts support, and great variety of trim versions have made it a highly relevant car model in the second-hand market across a wide range of budgets.
Only Honda Civics sold on the market of the USA are featured in this guide. The research was conducted in September of 2026. Arizona (the state of this study) is considered together with the information used in valuation analysis for the city of Phoenix, where such specification has its meaning. It is important to note that the climate conditions of Arizona produce less corrosion caused by road salts than those found in northern states. However, other problems stemming from hot weather, the sun exposure, the deterioration of batteries, aging of tires, the air conditioning condition, cooling systems, faded paint, and brittle materials must be considered during inspection as well.
It’s possible for each timeframe to span across multiple generations, body designs, models, powertrains, fuel types, and performance versions of the Civic, with notable value threshold migrations, which include the shift from carbureted Civics to more contemporary fuel-injection units around the late ’80s and in the ’90s; introduction of the Hybrid model for the 2003 model year; launch of the turbo motor in the 10th-gen models in 2016; complete redesign realized in the 11th generation in 2022; and re-launch of the Hybrid technology in 2025. Separate estimates may be needed for Si and Type R versions of the model because of their significant gap compared to common Civic versions.
All dollar amounts mentioned in this guide reflect the current projected values that Sell Us Your Car or any other similar buying source may pay instead of the retail price. Offers are made prior to the cost of transport, inspection, vending, administrative cost, and margin for resale. Therefore, mileage, model type, body style, transmission, modification history, ownership or accident history, service history, and general condition can greatly alter the amount offered on the actual purchase.
How Much Your Good-Running Civic May Be Worth in Arizona
The predicted prices at which dealers buy cars depend on a combination of the model year, trim level, type, engine, transmission, miles already covered by the vehicle, condition, originality, data about the maintenance, etc. To be classified as a good car, a particular model must be functioning well while giving a good performance in relation to driving, shifting, steering, and stopping.
Model years Estimated dealer purchase range Main value factors 1980–1989 $300–$3,000 Hatchback, sedan, wagon, CRX-related era configurations, manual transmission, originality, completeness, mileage, rust, sun damage, mechanical condition 1990–1999 $500–$4,500 DX, LX, EX, CX, VX, HX, Si, hatchback, sedan, coupe, manual transmission, VTEC engine, originality, modification history, air-conditioning condition, title history 2000–2009 $500–$5,500 DX, LX, EX, Si, Hybrid, coupe, sedan, hatchback, manual or automatic transmission, hybrid battery condition, mileage, service history, accident history 2010–2019 $1,000–$28,000 DX, LX, EX, EX-L, HF, Hybrid, Sport, Touring, Si, Type R, sedan, coupe, hatchback, 1.8-liter or 2.0-liter engine, 1.5-liter turbo, CVT or manual, mileage, originality 2020–2026 $8,500–$36,500 LX, Sport, EX, Touring, Sport Touring, Sport Hybrid, Sport Touring Hybrid, Si, Type R, sedan or hatchback, hybrid system, turbo engine, manual transmission, mileage, condition, Arizona heat exposure In addition, the vehicle must have a clear title, be relatively complete, have had appropriate mileage for its age, be in an acceptable exterior condition, and not need to undergo a major service immediately. The model of Civic must be identified carefully as there are many varieties that are available: for instance, a basic model of LX sedan can vary significantly from an efficient model of Hybrid and an Si with manual transmission or Type R from earlier Civic models.
Early models of Civics dating back to the 1980s and 1990s have been found to be condition-sensitive, where regular cars, despite high mileage, may retain value, while the models considered to be clean, performance-oriented ones from the CRX or Si eras, certain configurations with manual gear can be worth more. Models from 2016 and onwards along with turbocharged vehicles may command higher prices. The generation launched for 2022 includes hybrids from 2025, Si cars, and Type Rs, and their costs can differ from those of other sedans.
When assessing the vehicle’s condition in Arizona, it is crucial to check the functioning of the air-conditioning unit, cooling system, battery status, tire age, paint and dashboard condition, windscreen seals, and any signs of flooding or monsoon-related damage. Even in the case of a car with modified suspension, wheels, engine, exhaust and tuning system, clutch condition, and incorrectly performed modifications being evaluated, the seller must undertake such inspections.
How Much Your Crashed or Junk Civic May Be Worth in Arizona
The Civic vehicles that are non-running, wrecked, mechanically defective, damaged, and other such types of vehicles may still have a retained value whether in dealer sales or salvage sales because components such as the engine/drivetrain, electrical systems, body parts and other parts of the Hybrid type vehicle may be reusable.
Model years Estimated dealer or salvage purchase range Main value factors 1980–1989 $100–$700 Completeness, engine and transmission, catalytic converter, wheels, reusable body parts, title availability, rust, fire damage, towing expense, scrap conditions 1990–1999 $150–$1,200 Full engine, gear driven transmission, VTEC parts, catalytic converter, windows, wheels, inside parts, changes made, title status, structural damage 2000–2009 $200–$1,800 Engine, transmission, catalytic converter, Hybrid battery and electronics, Si components, body panels, airbags, wheels, title availability, flood or fire exposure 2010–2019 $300–$7,500 Engine, CVT or manual gearbox, turbocharger, individual components of Type R and Si, airbags, cameras, wheels, hybrid battery pack, construction, repairable condition, title 2020–2026 $800–$12,000 Turbocharger, hybrid battery, electric circuitry, sequential transmission system, VRX parts, visioning, wi-fi, light sensors, radio, wheels, ease of repair, safety measures, ownership log The late Civics could also hold significant salvage value because parts like engines, continuously variable transmissions, manual gearboxes, turbochargers, tires, doors, hatches, airbags, cameras, displays, lamps, suspension systems, and electronics can be recycled. Hybrid versions may bring traction-battery and power-electronics worth, while Si and Type R versions may have extra worth in the form of special machines, gear, brakes, seats, tires, and many other special parts.
Older Civics that have been in collisions that caused serious damage to the body, as well as major mechanical problems, missing exhaust or other parts, stripped down interiors, burned in fire, or extensively rusted, may sell for very little. However, salvage value is not to be confused with scrap-metal value since even older Civics can have useful parts inside that can be repurposed even if it is not practical to repair the vehicle.
The title status in Arizona affects the calculation as well. The restored salvage procedure of the state should be completed by a repaired salvage vehicle before allowing its use on the roads, which means that the vehicle is to pass a Level III inspection and meet the emissions requirements where applicable. Flood damage, deployed airbags, bent unibody structure, losing the keys, absence of catalytic converters, exposure to fire, hybrid battery problems and towing expenses should be mentioned as ones that lead to a smaller offer for buying the vehicle.
Honda Civic Trim Levels
Changing in nature, the Civic trim level structure demonstrated Honda’s transition from a basic level of passenger transport into hybrids, luxury, sporty or high-performance vehicles.
Model years Common U.S. trims, generally entry to premium 1980–1989 Base, DX, CRX-derived economy and sport configurations, hatchback, sedan, wagon, manual and automatic transmissions 1990–1999 DX, LX, EX, CX, VX, HX, Si, hatchback, sedan, coupe, VTEC availability, efficiency-focused VX and HX, performance-oriented Si 2000–2009 DX, LX, EX, EX-L on later models, Si, Hybrid, sedan, coupe, hatchback on selected years, manual or automatic transmission 2010–2019 DX, LX, HF, EX, EX-L, Hybrid, Sport, Touring, Si, Type R, sedan, coupe, hatchback, 1.5-liter turbo availability, manual transmission on performance models 2020–2026 LX, Sport, EX, Touring, Sport Touring, Sport Hybrid, Sport Touring Hybrid, Si, Type R, sedan, hatchback, gasoline and hybrid powertrains, manual performance variants Previously used designations were DX, LX, EX, CX, VX, HX, and Si, with entry-level models remaining the most affordable type, while EX trims mostly offered extra comfort and convenience. Historically speaking, high-efficiency variants like VX and HX stood out from the regular models, while the Civic Hybrid opened the path for the electrified Civic versions starting from the 2000s. Coupes, sedans, and hatchbacks also moved in and out of the U.S. lineup over the years.
Recently, Civics have made their mark in the market with versions such as LX and Sport. The Touring or Sport Touring versions come with a multitude of features and depend upon the type of the body and model year. The hybrid variants in the market now consist of the Sport Hybrid and the Sport Touring Hybrid.
Si remains a performance sedan with a manual transmission system, and the highest performance hatchback is Type R. The Type R turns out to be much more than just an appearance variant as it uses its own set of special powertrain, brake system, suspension, cooling system, and aerodynamics.
