Base, S, Sport, Sport S, SE, Sahara, Unlimited, X, Willys, Freedom Edition, Rubicon, Rubicon X, High Altitude, 4xe Sahara, 4xe Willys, 4xe Rubicon, 4xe High Altitude, Rubicon 392, MOAB 392
The Jeep Wrangler came to the United States in time for the 1987 model year, acting as the replacement to the Jeep CJ lineup of vehicles. Some of its features have surprisingly been preserved to this day: the vehicle is built on a body-on-frame platform and features solid axles and removable doors, as well as both a removable roof and true low-range 4WD. During the following generations of Wranglers known as YJ, TJ, JK, and JL, the car evolved and became more advanced technologically, but retained its original off-road capabilities.
This document only deals with Jeep Wranglers sold in the U.S. and is based on the information gathered till September 2026. Since Arizona is still the chosen market, the state of the market across Arizona together with the market in the Phoenix metro area is taken into consideration. Arizona is traditionally not a state with a large amount of road-salt damage, however, Jeep Wranglers are still used for off-roading activities which makes the overall condition of the vehicle in terms of the frame and suspension, its cooling system, the tires’ age, and even the signs of the flooding or off-roading much more important.
Significant milestones in the development of the Jeep Wrangler include the 1997 introduction of the TJ, the introduction of the JK in 2007 complete with the four-door Unlimited model, the launch of the JL in 2018, the introduction of the Wrangler 4xe hybrid in 2021, and the release of the Wrangler V8 392 model. The maker has since discontinued the production of the hybrid model, although second-hand cars are said to have continuing significance in today’s market. The 2026 Wrangler comes in V6, turbocharged four-cylinder, and a V8 limited production version.
Every monetary figure stated herein is an estimated purchase price that Sell Us Your Car or a similar car buyer could potentially pay and not the retail sales price demanded by the dealership. Offers are formed before considering transportation, inspection, reconditioning, and overhead along with the resale profit. The type, model, style and features, engine, transmission, changes made to a car, mileage, title issues, accidents, off-road application, or mechanical condition can have a significant effect on the price of Wrangler.
How Much Your Good-Running Wrangler May Be Worth in Arizona
The price ranges for dealers to purchase a vehicle are based on generation and two-door or four-door model; trim and engine; transmission and drive equipment added to the vehicle; mileage; modifications; and condition of a vehicle.
| Model years | Estimated dealer purchase range | Main value factors |
|---|---|---|
| 1987–1995 | $2,000–$10,000 | Base, S, Sahara, four-cylinder or inline-six, manual or automatic transmission, frame condition, rust, hardtop or soft-top completeness, modifications |
| 1997–2006 | $4,000–$16,000 | SE, Sport, Sahara, Rubicon, two door or Unlimited, 4.0 liter inline six, manual or automatic transmission, frame condition, axle setup, off road usage |
| 2007–2017 | $8,000–$24,000 | Sport, Sport S, Sahara, Rubicon, Unlimited, 3.8- or 3.6-liter V6, two-door or four-door, manual or automatic, modifications, accident history |
| 2018–2020 | $16,000–$32,000 | Sport, Sport S, Willys, Sahara, Rubicon, two-door or Unlimited, V6 or turbo four-cylinder, mileage, hardtop, safety equipment, modifications |
| 2021–2025 | $20,000–$52,000 | Sport, Willy, Sahara, Rubicon, Rubicon X, High Altitude, 4xe, Rubicon 392, used in different mileage, battery health, motor, maximum trim level, off-roading |
| 2026 | $27,000–$60,000 | Sport, Sport S, Willys, Sahara, Rubicon, Rubicon X, MOAB 392, and other variations of the 392 model, fuel consumption, V6 or turbocharged engines, V8 specs, feature equipment |
A sound-running Wrangler will be able to start, drive, shift, steer, stop, have a clean title; it will have its original components intact, appropriate mileage, and the appearance of usual wear. Older models YJ and TJ have been sold more based on their condition and how advanced the rust is.
The introduction of the four-door JK Unlimited vehicles meant that the Wrangler was now a vehicle that could be used by families more comfortably than before. Later models such as Rubicon, Willys, Sahara, and low-mileage manual transmission cars may also be considered valuable if they have some upgrades done on them and proper maintenance records exist.
The Generation JL 2018 models have once again drawn a clear line with their modern engines, introduction of eight-speed automatic transmission, enhanced infotainment technology, new safety systems, and the later 4xe plug-in hybrid and 392 variants.
The Rubicon, Rubicon X, 392 and 4xe models could be different from the standard Sport and Sport S models in a good way. The car selling business should pay attention to the lift kits, large tires, steering configuration, suspensions, differentials, skid plates, rock guards, frame rails, cooling, leaks, system operation and trails wear before estimating the price.
How Much Your Crashed or Junk Wrangler May Be Worth in Arizona
Wranglers that are non-functioning, wrecked, flipped, mechanically broken down, not fully operative, or in any way broken may indeed keep considerable value as a deal or salvage purchase in such cases that components like engines, transmissions, axles, transfer cases, doors, roofs, body panels, wheels, suspension parts, or off-road devices can often be recycled.
| Model years | Estimated dealer or salvage purchase range | Main value factors |
|---|---|---|
| 1987–1995 | $300–$2,000 | Engine, manual or automatic transmission, axles, transfer case, frame, hardtop, doors, catalytic converter, title status |
| 1997–2006 | $500–$3,500 | 4.0-liter engine, transmission, Dana axles, transfer case, Rubicon lockers, hardtop, doors, tailgate, frame condition |
| 2007–2017 | $1,000–$5,500 | 3.8- or 3.6-liter V6, transmission, Rubicon axles, lockers, sway-bar system, hardtop, four-door body parts, wheels, structural condition |
| 2018–2020 | $1,500–$7,000 | V6 or turbo engine, eight-speed automatic, cameras, LED lighting, infotainment, electronic lockers, Rubicon suspension, title status |
| 2021–2025 | $2,500–$12,000 | Gasoline, 4xe, or 392 drivetrain, hybrid battery and charging hardware, axles, cameras, infotainment, removable body components, Rubicon parts |
| 2026 | $4,000–$15,000 | Drivetrain with V6 or turbo or V8, modern electronics, locking differentials, trail cameras, hard roof and doors, components of Rubicon or 392, frame, overturning damage |
Older models of YJ and TJ can still keep donor cars in some demand thanks to their engines (either the six-cylinder or four-cylinder type), manual or automatic transmission systems, Dana axles, transfer systems, hardtops, doors, tailgate, frame, dashboards, seat, or original wheels. However, the presence of rust, missing roofs, or heavily altered suspension can hinder the salvage appeal.
Later JK models provide valuable engine parts such as 3.6-liter V6 engines, automatic transmissions, Rubicon axles, lockers, electronic sway-bar disconnect systems, hardtops, navigation systems and four-door body parts.
JL vehicles may be much more valuable as donors due to their presence of turbocharged engines, new components of 3.6 liters V6 engines, eight-speed automatic transmissions, cameras, LED lights, infotainment displays, electronic lockers, Rubicon suspension parts and safety electronics. Previous 4xe vehicles can provide batteries, electric motors, inverters, charging devices and hybrid control devices.
Before the vehicle is back on the road, a reconstructed Wrangler needs to fulfill Arizona’s restored-salvage title requirements, including a Level III inspection and emissions compliance where applicable. Deformity of the frame, rollover impact, airbag deployment, fire incidents, flood waters, hybrid system failure, missing catalytic converters, and incomplete aftermarket installations can all reduce an acquisition offer.
Jeep Wrangler Trim Levels
Over the years, models of Wrangler series have gone through a variety of changes and are no longer restricted to a few simple off-road configurations-they now include models designed for doing off-road trips or urban driving, with a variety of amenities and equipment, as well as plug-in hybrid engines and V8s among their offerings.
| Model years | Common U.S. trims, generally entry to premium |
|---|---|
| 1987–1995 | Base, S, Sahara, four-cylinder or inline-six, two-door |
| 1997–2006 | SE, Sport, Sahara, Rubicon, Unlimited on later years |
| 2007–2017 | Sport, Sport S, X on early years, Sahara, Rubicon, Unlimited, Freedom Edition and other special editions |
| 2018–2020 | Sport, Sport S, Willys, Sahara, Rubicon, High Altitude on later years |
| 2021–2025 | Sport, Sport S, Willys, Sahara, Rubicon, Rubicon X, High Altitude, 4xe Sahara, 4xe Willys, 4xe Rubicon, 4xe High Altitude, Rubicon 392 |
| 2026 | Sport, Sport S, Willys, Sahara, Rubicon, Rubicon X, MOAB 392 and other limited 392 variants |
Across the YJ and TJ generations, trims included Base, S, SE, Sport, Sahara, or later TJ Rubicon variations of the Jeep brand. One of the most critical features of the Rubicon variation was its specialized hardware, including stronger axles, locking differentials, lower gearing, and purpose-built off-road equipment.
While the JK series increased the number of available Variants of Sport, Sahara, and Rubicon, with Unlimited designating the four-door models, as well as introduced several additional appearance and special editions, the current JL series preserved models previously known as Sport, Sport S, Willys, Sahara, Rubicon, and Rubicon X, while also launching hybrid models labeled as 4xe along with V8 versions of Jeep models known as 392.
The main lineup for 2026 consists of Sport, Sport S, Willys, Sahara, Rubicon, and Rubicon X, as well as special V8 versions such as MOAB 392 and some limited-edition 392 variants. The production of the Wrangler 4xe has come to a stop, but there are still many used 4xe from 2021-2025 resold on the market.
About Automaker Jeep
Jeep has its origin in military vehicles that were produced in the 1940s and has since become one of the most well-known off-road brands in the United States. The Wrangler remains an heir of the CJ line of vehicles for civilians in the sense that it uses the time-tested solid axle configuration and removable body parts but is always evolving with its more modern engines, electronic systems, and safety devices.
