All Honda HR-Vs Wanted in Arizona for Cash

    LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, Touring

The Honda HR-V debuted in the U.S. as the smallest Honda crossover for the model year 2016. The first U.S. generation of the HR-V featured a compact exterior combined with rear seating versatility and optional AWD, allowing for greater cargo capabilities than its size would suggest. For 2023, Honda discontinued that model in favor of a larger second generation that uses an entirely different platform and features rear seats configured more traditionally, a more robust 2.0-liter engine, and updated infotainment and safety technologies.

This document discusses only Honda HR-V models in the USA market and research done in September 2026. Given that the user has asked about Arizona, data from around the state is also used in addition to data from the Phoenix metro area when relevant. In general, Arizona tends to have less rust due to road salt; however, significant heat, excessive sunshine, operation of the air conditioning system, battery deterioration, aging of tires, fading of paint and upholstery, the condition of the cooling system and water penetration due to monsoons must all be taken into consideration when inspecting a vehicle.

Since the HR-V has a brief history in the American market, determining the price breakdown was not difficult. The first generation of HR-Vs (2016-2022) features a 1.8-liter engine with a CVT or, on some earlier versions, a six-speed manual transmission, and the efficient Magic Seat interior configuration, while the 2023 HR-V is powered by a more powerful 2.0-liter engine with 158 horsepower, a larger frame, independent rear suspension, advanced driver-assistance technology, and a simple LX, Sport, and EX-L trim levels lineup.

The dollar amounts mentioned in this document reflect approximate market acquisition costs that Sell Us Your Car or other similar dealers would pay, not dealer retail asking prices. Offers made are considered prior to transportation costs, inspections, reconditioning, overhead and profit margins, so the actual offer made will vary considerably depending on driving history, drivetrain, trim package, title history, accident history, maintenance history, cosmetic condition and mechanical condition.

How Much Your Good-Running HR-V May Be Worth in Arizona

The estimated dealer purchase ranges depend on the model year, trim, type of drive, mileage, condition, and the history of maintenance.

Model yearsEstimated dealer purchase rangeMain value factors
2016–2019$6,000–$12,500LX, EX, EX-L Navi, Sport, Touring, front-wheel drive, all-wheel drive, mileage, CVT condition, service history, air-conditioning performance, sun exposure, title history
2020–2022$10,000–$18,500LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, Touring, front-wheel drive, all-wheel drive, fuel efficiency, CVT maintenance, Honda Safety features, accident records, state of tires, quality of interior
2023–2026$16,000–$25,000LX, Sport, EX-L, with a 2.0L engine, either FWD or AWD, mileage, completion of steering campaign, condition of driver assistance features and the car’s aesthetics, exposure to Arizona weather

The HR-V should be in good working order, which means that it can be started, managed, driven, and stopped properly and has a clean title, no significant damage, mileage in line with its age, and regular wear and tear without the need for immediate and major repairs. First-generation vehicles generally occupy the more affordable end of the market, while the redesigned 2023-and-newer HR-V carries a substantial age and equipment advantage.

Recent estimated trade-in values for Phoenix provide examples. Depending on condition and mileage, models from 2016 have been valued around the low $8,000 spot, the ones from 2020 at around $12,500, while models from 2022 have had an estimated value of around $18,600. These are appraisal estimates, not verified completed transactions or guaranteed offers.

Arizona inspections should focus on the state of air conditioning, battery, tires, exterior trim, dashboard, upholstery, weather sealing and signs of water damage caused by flooding. Sell Us Your Car should also check if the CVT works properly, if the car has all wheel drive, if there are any warning signals and if the vehicle had previously been in any accidents.

How Much Your Crashed or Junk HR-V May Be Worth in Arizona

Broken, crashed, not in operation or otherwise damaged vehicles of the HR-V kind may still have a dealer or salvage purchase value, due to the operable drive systems, casing elements, electronics, airbags, wheels, and repairable frames.

Model yearsEstimated dealer or salvage purchase rangeMain value factors
2016–2019$500–$2,5001.8-liter motor, CVT gearbox, catalytic system, hardware system for all-wheel drive, door locking system, liftgate system, rim, seats, availability of transfer of ownership, structural harm to the vehicle, transportation cost
2020–2022$800–$4,000Engine, CVT, rear differential, airbags, cameras, infotainment hardware, body panels, wheels, interior parts, fire or flood exposure, repairability
2023–2026$1,500–$7,5002.0-liter engine, CVT, cameras, sensors, LED lighting, airbags, infotainment display, wheels, suspension components, repairable unibody, title status

However, parts of first-generation HR-Vs may retain value, including 1.8L engines, CVTs, all-wheel-drive components, catalytic converters, bodies, doors, hatches, wheels, seats, lamps, and a variety of other interior parts. Other models include advanced cameras, sensors, infotainment systems, LED lights, airbags, electronic modules, as well as some body parts and suspension equipment.

Structural damage that is serious, exposure to fire, missing catalytic converters, stripped interiors, flood contamination, or a failed drivetrain can easily cause the earlier model of HR-V to reach scrap value or parts value. Salvage value is not equal to scrap-metal value since a crossover can have reusable elements that have a worth that is much more than the worth of the metal of the crossover model.

The status of the title in Arizona plays a key role in the calculations. A vehicle that has been salvaged would need to meet the conditions of the state pertaining to a restored-salvage vehicle before it can be used as a regular vehicle on the roads, including passing a Level III inspection and complying with emissions requirements where applicable. Deployed airbags, bent unibody structure, missing keys, water damage, fire damage, absent emissions hardware, and towing expense can all reduce an acquisition offer.

    Honda HR-V Trim Levels

The hierarchy of trims for the HR-V has been simple in the United States through years of changing names and the range of equipment. In 2016, the HR-V debuted with the trims called LX, EX, and EX-L Navi.

Model yearsCommon U.S. trims, generally entry to premium
2016–2018LX, EX, EX-L Navi, 1.8-liter four-cylinder, CVT, front-wheel drive, available all-wheel drive, leather and navigation on EX-L Navi
2019–2022LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, Touring on selected years, 1.8-liter four-cylinder, CVT, front-wheel drive, available all-wheel drive, Sport styling, upper-trim comfort and safety equipment
2023–2026LX, Sport, EX-L, 2.0-liter four-cylinder, CVT, front-wheel drive, available all-wheel drive, Sport appearance package, EX-L leather and premium technology

The LX covered the basic things, the EX offered added features like a sunroof and more convenient equipment, while the EX-L Navi became attractive due to leather seats and standard navigation.

In the first generation of the HR-V, Sport and Touring trim levels were introduced, completing the task of diversifying the make with unique looks and equipment. The first generation cars were all equipped with the same automotive engines of the same series with the 1.8-litre capacity, as well as the possibility of making an all-wheel drive version of most cars.

The newly redesigned 2023 HR-V gives customers three simplified areas to choose from – LX, Sport, and EX-L. The Sport trim highlights external upgrades along with larger wheel sizes. The EX-L trim includes leather seats and upholstery as well as other technologies and comfort features.

The 2026 model comes with a combination of either front-wheel drive or the all-wheel drive option. U.S. HR-V models are not available with hybrid powertrains, like some models available in other countries.
