The hierarchy has changed from equipment-based LX and SE models to those that are focused on the type of powertrain used. The SE-i of 1985 and the later LXi earned their place in history as some of the earliest models of this category while the models produced between 2003 and 2007 marked the advent of the unique configuration, namely the EX-L V6.

The values given are EPA combined ratings; however, these values cannot be compared directly from one year to the other because of the way EPA categorizes vehicles. Although the efficiency was improved mainly because of the automobile’s electrical motor, in the case of the 2005 Hybrid equipped with the V6 engine, the emphasis was on performance rather than efficiency.
The two-motor Hybrid that appeared in 2014-2015 provided a great fuel economy of 47 mpg, while the short-lived Plug-In was capable of producing only 13 rated electric miles. The 2026 EX-L Hybrid with 17-inch wheels has a fuel consumption rate of 48 mpg, greater than that of the Sport, Sport-L and Touring Hybrids, which return 44 mpg.

A well-maintained K24 four-cylinder from 2013 to 2017 is a robust and fairly simple mechanism. In contrast, older V6 automatics from the early 2000s and the 1.5T model from 2018 to 2019 require extensive road testing and thorough examination of the fluids, cooling and service records.
When dealing with hybrids from 2023 to 2025, ensure that the integrated control module software update was completed along with any applicable fuel-pump recall work associated with the vehicle’s VIN.
Problems that have been reported cannot be considered to apply to everyone. The correct final check for determining whether a recall applies is by using Honda’s VIN lookup because recall applicability depends on the car’s production date.
Honda’s public page states that safety recalls announced more than 15 calendar years ago are not included, so owners should contact Honda for information about older campaigns.

During this time frame of 47 years, both the crash-test standards and rating systems went through several changes. When an older protocol brings a good result, it cannot be said that it is the same as a newer IIHS or NHTSA rating.
The biggest shift is represented by the year 2018, as that was the year when all Accords acquired Honda Sensing with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and road-departure mitigation features. The 2023 rework improved the car in regard to the updated, more demanding side test conducted by IIHS.

The V6 coupe produced from 2003 to 2007 is known for its 240-plus horsepower, available manual gearbox, and advanced suspension. The 2018-2022 2.0T is quicker and broader in capability, especially with its ten-speed automatic, but the 204-hp hybrid of today provides much better performance in modern daily use.

The practicality of the Accord has seen a drastic change from hatchbacks and cars of the 1980s to the current models. The 1995 Accord wagon is exceptional as it offers 25.7 cubic feet of storage space behind the back seats and 63 cubic feet when the back seats are folded.
The 2015 hybrid model sacrificed some cargo space for the battery, but the 2026 model is better with trunk space matching the gasoline version’s 16.7 cubic feet and rear legroom of 40.8 inches.
