All Chevrolet Traxes Wanted in Arizona for Cash
LS, LT, LTZ, Premier, 1RS, 2RS, ACTIV
Chevrolet debuted the Trax to American consumers during the 2015 model year as an entry-level crossover which makes parking easier, accommodates five passengers, and can be equipped with all-wheel drive. Its strengths have been based on its convenience in daily use: it is higher than regular cars, has a spacious trunk and is small enough to park it with ease. Here at Sell Us Your Car, we assess these advantages and the car’s condition to determine the resale offer.
The September 2026 report only pertains to the United States marketplace and covers certain validated vehicles for the model year 2026. The report uses conditions encountered in Arizona and, where possible, values in the Phoenix area plus other national acquisition benchmarks. The averages do not represent sales of vehicles in a specific neighborhood. Different model years can have different generations of vehicle, trims, equipment packages, and powertrains and hence vehicles categorized together may be of very different values.
There is a big divide between the 2024 version and the absence of a U.S. 2023 model. The second-generation Trax has improved in passenger space and have added smart driver assistance and made it only a front-wheel-drive vehicle. Thus the older models with AWD are likely to retain an advantage that newer models won’t have.
All monetary values stated here are present approximated purchase amounts and not the selling prices agreed upon by sellers and buyers in private sales or dealership retail prices. They essentially refer to the pre-purchase amount of a particular vehicle before any transport services have affected it, inspection, reconditioning, disassembly, pre-purchase fees, and resale profit margin. When evaluating an individual Trax, features such as cooling system condition and air conditioning performance are particularly important in the Arizona climate, which means that the condition of tires and any damage caused by sun exposure should also be considered.
How Much Your Good-Running Trax May Be Worth in Arizona
The table presents the ranges of estimated dealer acquisitions for different types of models during various years, where the differences are explained based on the models’ characteristics, including mileage, condition, generational differences, and equipment features.
| Model years | Estimated dealer purchase range | Main value factors |
|---|---|---|
| 2015–2019 | Approximately $2,500–$8,500 | Clear title, right functioning conditions, age-dependent miles, LS to LTZ or Premier features, FWD or AWD car, documented maintenance, status of the turbocharger, state of the cooling system, working air conditioning, damage from the sun in Arizona, underbody corrosion |
| 2020–2022, 2024–2026 | Approximately $6,000–$22,000 | Clean title, ordinary wear, no immediate major repairs, first-generation vehicles toward lower end, 2024 redesign, newer low-mileage examples toward upper end, LT or ACTIV equipment, 1RS or 2RS condition, service history, air-conditioning performance, accident history |
A good working Trax, for example, starts without any problems, functions well, shows good working quality, and incorporates average mileage and average worn-out look. Such a Trax should be free from major repairs related to engine, transmission or other mechanical components of the vehicle. If a car moves but for instance overheats or its transmission system starts slipping, it does not fit the definition mentioned above.
In our acquisition price assessment, basic models of the year 2015 are anticipated to come at around $2500 to $4500, while typical models of the year 2020 are likely to cost $6000 to $9500. The price of pristine models of 2024 ranges between $13000 and $18500, depending on their mileage and trim.
These are indicative prices based on trade-in prices and are not definite offers and sale prices. Although models with LTZ and Premier trims or modern ACTIV trim and 2RS trim have higher values, vehicle history and maintenance records are still the more important factors than the presence of the brand.
The class of the 2024 generation typically puts it in a different bracket for acquisition because of its age, packaging, and equipment. Weak air conditioning, cracking tires, paint with faded colors, and a careless cooling system can wipe out an equipment premium in the state of Arizona. The use in Northern Arizona and out of state history requires checking under the vehicle for corrosion issues.
How Much Your Crashed or Junk Trax May Be Worth in Arizona
If your Trax is no longer operational, hit an object, suffered mechanical failure, or obtained damage to any other degree, the chart below indicates estimated dealer or salvage value assumptions based on the vehicle and machinery value that can be recovered.
| Model years | Estimated dealer or salvage purchase range | Main value factors |
|---|---|---|
| 2015–2019 | Approximately $250–$2,500 | Completeness, appliance availability, reusability of the engine or transmission, existence of catalytic converters, wheels, bodywork, mechanical failure possible to repair, structural damage, flood or fire exposure, scrap conditions in the area, remote access to the scrap yard |
| 2020–2022, 2024–2026 | Approximately $500–$9,000 | Repairable or slightly damaged modern cars, entirely functional, engine parts, electronic parts used for communication, display systems, undipped safety systems for drivers, ownership, condition of casing, absence of elements, machine caused by water or burning, length of a recovery, economic valuation excluding price of components |
A damaged 2024-2026 Trax may still have considerable repairable vehicle value with regard to their body, motor, gearbox, lights, multimedia system, and functioning electronics. Undeployed airbags and working driver assistance elements can become important as well when the automobile is examined and deemed suitable for future use. In case of major structural damage, deployed safety belts, and impairment of various systems, viability of repair will soon cease.
In general, Trax older vehicles rely much more on reusable parts and completeness. In the case of the failed engine, it does not completely render the vehicle indicated as scrap, but when there is a stripped or burnt-out vehicle, it probably has very little material left in terms of components that can be salvaged. Note that salvage value includes recoverable parts or repair viability of the vehicle, while scrap metal value refers to recoverable materials. Both terms should not be confused with the price of specific parts that will be sold later on.
At Sell Us Your Car, we need precise details about the car’s title, keys, catalytic converter, flooding, and rolling capability during loading. The distance from the rural areas to the scrapyard and weather of the scrapyard play an impact in evaluating the market value of the car. The State of Arizona requires the Level III inspection, documents needed for the title, and its emission control as part of the process of restoring that car but repairs do not erase the title history.
Chevrolet Trax Trim Levels
The hierarchy of trims reveals how several Trax models incorporated new features for comfort, convenience, and styling throughout production.
| Model years | Common U.S. trims, generally entry to premium |
|---|---|
| 2015–2019 | LS, LT, LTZ through 2016, Premier from 2017, 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, six-speed automatic, available AWD, higher-trim comfort equipment, smartphone-integration upgrade for 2017 |
| 2020–2022, 2024–2026 | 2020 LS, LT, Premier; 2021–2022 LS, LT; 2024–2026 LS, 1RS, LT, 2RS, ACTIV; 2022 engine upgrade, AWD availability through 2022, redesigned models exclusively FWD, RS appearance treatments, ACTIV comfort equipment, larger display on redesigned LT and above |
The original U.S. roster made its way through the LS, LT, and LTZ trims. The LT was usually equipped with a set of convenience features, while the LTZ came with more luxurious amenities. The Premier trim took over from the LTZ after the 2017 facelift, while the 2021-2022 lineup returned back to basic LS and LT trims.
The peculiar configuration that may be noted is the 2022 LS featuring an optional all-wheel drive, as well as the upgraded 155-horsepower engine on board: thus, this base model is still capable of housing first-generation more potent powertrain.
The new collection of models includes LS, 1RS, LT, 2RS, and ACTIV. The RS specification enhances the sportiness of the vehicles’ designs, while the ACTIV adds its own trim and features to increase riding comfort. However, neither of these two terms implies any improvement in engine performance or all-wheel-drive system.
The LT designation has great importance due to its association with larger infotainment systems. Moreover, in addition to that, 2RS and ACTIV include this display in their features as well as several other ones. It is advisable to check what packages a vehicle has instead of automatically assuming that it has a blind spot monitoring system installed.
Chevrolet Trax Fuel Economy
It’s important to compare the model year, type of drivetrain and kind of fuel used, as Trax vehicles that may look the same might differ in EPA ratings. For example, the 2015 model has an EPA rating of 29 mpg for the front-wheel drive vehicle, whereas the all-wheel drive vehicle has an EPA rating of 27 mpg.
| Model years | Gasoline or diesel models | Most efficient alternative | Plug-in electric range |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2015–2019 | Representative 2015 EPA combined ratings, 1.4-liter gasoline turbo, 29 mpg FWD, 27 mpg AWD, year-specific variation, no U.S. diesel | FWD gasoline configuration, representative 2015 rating of 29 mpg combined, no hybrid alternative | None |
| 2020–2022, 2024–2026 | 2022 EPA combined ratings of 27 mpg FWD or 26 mpg AWD, 2024 gasoline FWD rating of 30 mpg combined, 2026 flex-fuel rating of 30 mpg combined on gasoline or 22 mpg on E85, configuration-specific labels | Redesigned FWD gasoline configurations at approximately 30 mpg combined, no hybrid alternative, E85 limited to compatible flex-fuel vehicles | None |
However, the more powerful version made in 2022 has a rating of only 27 mpg for the front-wheel drive and 26 mpg for the all-wheel drive vehicles, which shows that a newer engine doesn’t always equate to being more fuel-efficient. All Trax models in any generation made in the U.S. have automatic transmissions; there are no manual-transmission economy models produced in the U.S.
The redesign in 2024 gave the model a notable 30 mpg combined figure while enhancing its space within the pick-up. For 2026, the flex-fuel delivery offers 30 mpg combined using gasoline and 22 mpg using E85, but confirm which fuel types a particular vehicle is compatible with. None of U.S. Trax is powered by diesel, true-hybrid, plug-in-hybrid or battery-electric system.
Additionally, EPA standards and methods have changed in the years gone by; hence the comparison across different model years can be complicated. Moreover, factors such as the air-conditioning use in Arizona, idle running, driving speed on the highway, and tire pressure in actuality are likely to matter.
Chevrolet Trax Reliability & Common Problems
Maintenance logs and inspections conducted specific to configuration are more effective than blanket reliability claims in determining whether a purchase is risky or not. Vehicles with 1.4 liters engine should be examined for crankcase-ventilation system functionality, cooling system and turbocharger.
| Model years | General reliability | Common age- or generation-related concerns |
|---|---|---|
| 2015–2019 | Maintenance-sensitive turbocharged powertrain, individual service history central, fewer drivetrain components with FWD, condition more informative than trim | PCV diaphragm leaks, rough idle or lean-condition faults, radiator leaks on certain vehicles, turbocharger-control faults, coolant-pipe connections, oil leaks, aging hoses or mounts, hot transmission shift quality, VIN-specific recall checks |
| 2020–2022, 2024–2026 | Separate assessment of older 1.4-liter and redesigned 1.2-liter engines, shorter long-term record for 2024–2026 vehicles, documented oil service important | Earlier 1.4-liter boost-control concerns, purge-valve problems on certain 2020 vehicles, extended-drive air-conditioning airflow loss on applicable 2024–2026 vehicles, instrument-display recall on certain 2024 vehicles, 2024 spark-plug interval of 60,000 miles, heat-aged batteries or hoses, VIN-specific campaign eligibility |
A malfunctioning PCV diaphragm may lead to vacuum leaks, running issues, or warnings of being too lean. Some cars produced in the period from 2015 to 2019 had already undergone radiator leaks service campaigns. Thus, even if these cars had these defects documented, it does not mean that every car of this model will have the same issues.
Because hoses, valves, or hardware may simulate a malfunctioning turbocharger, underboost issues require good diagnostic skills. We also check transmission behavior both cold and hot. A well-maintained front-wheel-drive vehicle eliminates the added rear-wheel drive systems of all-wheel drive vehicles, thus reducing the number of parts needing inspection. However, that does not mean that FWD vehicles have better engine and transmission durability.
The ownership history of the 2024-2026 generation is quite short. Don’t just test the air conditioning at startup; drive the car long enough to verify that the air conditioning is functioning properly as GM has experienced issues with evaporator icing that restricts airflow on affected models. According to the 2024 servicing schedule, spark plugs must be replaced every 60,000 miles and the oil service records are crucial to the car’s turbocharged engine functioning well.
Normal aging puts a strain on hoses, batteries, seals, suspension bushings, and mounting elements. In conditions of extreme heat in Arizona, the relevance of these items is even higher. Specific issues may not affect all models, service bulletins may not necessarily mean a recall, and information about recall status must always be checked using your specific vehicle identification number at either Chevrolet or NHTSA sites.
