All Chevrolet Silverado 1500s Wanted in Arizona for Cash
Base, WT, LS, Custom, LT, RST, LTZ, High Country, SS, Hybrid, Custom Trail Boss, LT Trail Boss, ZR2
The Silverado 1500 was launched by Chevrolet for the 1999 model year as the replacement for its C/K light-duty pickup truck. The name “Silverado” was previously used as a trim level for the C/K series, which means that an older C/K truck sporting the Silverado nameplate is part of a different truck model. Over the years, the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 has evolved to include spacious family trucks, specialized off-road models, and well-equipped highway haulers.
Here at Sell Us Your Car, we analyze how those factors affect our assessment when buying your pickup truck. In this September 2026 article, we provide details of the U.S. market Silverado 1500 models up to and including the 2026 model. The 2027 version is omitted from acquisition calculations. Silverado HD and Silverado EV trucks will be considered separately.
The targeted area for our appraisal operations is the whole Arizona area, using national approximation standard benchmarks with additional Arizona conditions, instead of declaring a verified general statewide transaction average. Special attention is given to emissions regulations in Phoenix and Tucson areas. Heat from the desert, sun, working condition of cooling systems and signs of flood water entrance can significantly influence the resulting appraisal.
Some model years may include overlapping generations, while cab styles, trims, and powertrains vary by year. Acquisition offers account for handling, inspection, reconditioning, dismantling, and all overhead and resale margin costs. An important line of separation is the updated 2022 truck, which has considerably changed in terms of equipment compared with the 2022 Limited.
How Much Your Good-Running Silverado 1500 May Be Worth in Arizona
Expected dealer purchase values for trucks depend on a few factors: the model year, condition, configuration and vehicle type.
| Model years | Estimated dealer purchase range | Main value factors |
|---|---|---|
| 1999 | Approximately $1,500-$5,000 | 4.3 liters V6 or 4.8 and 5.3 liters V8, standard cab compared with extended cab, status of transmission, operation of four-wheel drive system, condition of chassis, presence of air conditioning and regular condition rather than collector presentation. |
| 2000-2009 | Approximately $1,500-$12,000 | Comparison of old and new 2007 trucks, identification of 2007 Classic model, availability of Crew Cab models, authenticity of SS trucks, V8 maintenance record, condition of hybrid batteries, mileages, presence of heat damage, and previous salt exposure. |
| 2010-2019 | Approximately $2,500-$32,000 | The generation changes from 2014 and 2019, the 2019 LD’s identification and continuation, as well as the differences between the WT trim level and High Country or Trail Boss; the way the cabin works, oil usage, gearbox performance, accident record and not the least but important emissions readiness. |
| 2020-2026 | Approximately $9,500-$65,000 | The condition of a 2022 model year, mileage, updated 2022 vs. Limited, Duramax state, High Country or ZR2 setup, accuracy of 6.2-liter recall, clean title status, record keeping of maintenance and cooling system condition information in general terms. |
For this guide, for a Silverado to be considered as “in good working condition,” it must run, have a clean title, remain substantially complete, and show age-appropriate mileage and ordinary cosmetic wear without needing an immediate major mechanical repair.
Our estimates are lower than dealer retail asking prices for comparable models. Although the trade-in offers do provide some context, they are not an assurance of a cash purchase offer.
The older trucks with 4.8- and 5.3-liter engines depend on maintenance, transmission function, and remaining service life the most. An original SS should be evaluated differently compared to a basic work truck, although collector-grade examples shouldn’t skew the usual price range. Later Crew Cabs, authentic four-wheel drives, and well-preserved Duramax diesels can command higher prices but only when their state is satisfactory.
In Arizona, a working air conditioner, stable coolant temperature and sound tires are more important than a beautiful paint job.
Our inspections include checking the frame and brake lines for any indications of salt prior exposure. In addition to these points, problems meeting emissions regulations applicable in the Phoenix or Tucson area, illuminated malfunction indicators, incomplete readiness monitors or missing emissions systems can lead to a decrease in the purchase price.
How Much Your Crashed or Junk Silverado 1500 May Be Worth in Arizona
Estimated dealer or wrecking yard purchase ranges for trucks that are non-running, wrecked, mechanically damaged or otherwise impaired depend on the cost to repair them or recover components from them. A wrecked Silverado can still retain salvage value beyond the value of its scrap metal.
| Model years | Estimated dealer or salvage purchase range | Main value factors |
|---|---|---|
| 1999 | Approximately $250-$1,500 | Completeness, usable V8 engine setup, transmission case, usable truck bed, catalytic converter being there, title available, local scrapping conditions, loading access, distance needed |
| 2000-2009 | Approximately $300-$5,000 | Repairable late model truck vs. junk shell, salvageable engine or transmission, SS-specific parts, cab and bed condition, Hybrid battery testing, missing components, body rust damage, fire damage |
| 2010-2019 | Approximately $500-$14,000 | Collision damage, which has the ability to be repaired, engine and transmission intact, useful body parts, airbags and electronics in good condition, structural distortion, flood damage, ownership papers, requirement of towing vehicle |
| 2020-2026 | Approximately $750-$30,000 | totaled shell vs fixable late model truck, whether it’s a Duramax or a V8, with ZR2 components, cameras and modules, cab structure, flood or fire exposure, possibility for restored-salvage and individual appraisal. |
In the case of newer trucks, they may contain useable engines, transmissions, transfer cases, cabs, bodies, tailgates or electrical systems. Older trucks can still provide useful V8 powertrains and body components. An identifiable SS donor might also justify further investigation. Hybrid batteries, however, must be tested and inspected thoroughly when their condition and provenance are unknown and therefore are not to be considered automatically valuable.
Salvage value indicates the possibility of a truck being repaired or dismantled. The value of parts that can be reused varies depending on condition and demand; scrap value depends on how much metal can be recovered and the current market prices. Missing catalytic converters, stripped interiors, fire damage, flood damage, excessive frame damage, and missing title can have a huge negative effect on the acquisition offer. Distance to recovery also matters, along with condition of the truck, whether it rolls and steers properly.
A Level III inspection is required as part of Arizona’s restored salvage title process, along with emissions compliance if applicable. This does not eliminate the title brand nor does it substitute a full structural and mechanical evaluation. When it comes to determining the valuation of damaged trucks as roadworthy vehicles, we take into account both the paperwork and the remaining repair risk.
Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Trim Levels
The naming of Silverado models is meant to convey that they include an ever-evolving range of features related to utility, comfort, performance, and special functions. In earlier versions of the Silverado 1500, there were simple names like Base, LS, and LT, while WT was introduced as an identifier for fleet and utility trucks.
| Model years | Common U.S. trims, generally entry to premium |
|---|---|
| 1999 | Standard Base equipment, LS features, high-end LT features, Regular Cab or Extended Cab configuration, and manual transmission on certain engine options |
| 2000-2009 | Original trucks were enhanced in the years 2007-2009 with new versions that include Base, WT, LS, LT, LTZ, a performance version dubbed SS, initial mild Hybrid version, a 2009 two-mode version, and a Crew Cab version of light-duty 1500 constructed since 2004. |
| 2010-2019 | The 2019 redesign includes models such as WT, LS, Custom LT and RST, while models from 2014 such as LTZ and High Country. Other models include Custom Trail Boss and LT Trail Boss of 2019. Additionally, the two-mode Hybrid model was available till 2013, followed by a limited quantity of eAssist. The 2019 LD model is still being used, however. |
| 2020-2026 | The model is available in the following variants: WT, Custom, LT, RST, LTZ, High Country, Custom Trail Boss, LT Trail Boss and ZR2 from the refreshed model year of 2022, along with cabin size options in the refreshed versions of LT and above, Z71 package, Duramax choice depending on configuration. |
Later on, LTZ was used to provide a better distinction of the high-end models, while High Country became known for a more sophisticated cabin. The names of the engines, cabs, and packages are crucial in the identification of a particular model, since the LT tag alone does not establish the truck’s gearbox, seating arrangement, or towing equipment.
Typically, the SS is an exception to the standard hierarchy as it brings together an extended cab configuration and performance-oriented 6.0-liter V8. The hybrid editions warrant a separate mention as well. In 2026, WT and Custom focus on utility, LT brings in a larger screen in the cabin, while RST brings in body-color styling elements.
Custom Trail Boss and LT Trail Boss come outfitted with off-roading equipment from the factory, while the ZR2 gets specialty dampers and front and rear locking differentials. The High Country makes comfort the priority. Usually, Z71 refers to a package rather than a single trim.
Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Fuel Economy
By taking into account engine, transmission, drive system, and tire configuration, we learn more about fuel economy than the Silverado name alone. The 2009 two-mode Hybrid was an important step in the direction of better efficiency: its 6.0-liter V8 worked with electric motors.
| Model years | Gasoline or diesel models | Most efficient alternative | Plug-in electric range |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1999 | Combined EPA ratings are as follows: 4.3-liter V6 automatic 2WD 16 mpg, 5.3-liter V8 automatic 2WD 16 mpg, 5.3-liter V8 automatic 4WD 15 mpg | 4.3-liter V6 five-speed manual 2WD, 17 mpg combined, no hybrid or diesel Silverado 1500 | None |
| 2000-2009 | According to the 2009 EPA ratings, the combination of 4.3-liter V6 and automatic transmission with 2WD can do 17 miles per gallon. The 5.3-liter V8 with automatic transmission and 2WD can do only 16 miles per gallon. Further, its mileage would be comparatively lower on E85 if the car is compatible with E85. | 6.0 liter two-mode Hybrid, 21 mpg combined (2WD) and 20 mpg combined (4WD) vehicles were manufactured in 2009. Conventional mild hybrid systems are different. | None |
| 2010-2019 | Representative combined ratings of EPA 2018, V6 2WD of 4.3 L, gas mileage of 20 mpg, 5.3 L V8 2WD, which provides 18-19 mpg depending on transmission used, and V8 4WD of 6.2 L, with a capacity of 17 mpg. | 2013 hybrid model two-mode system averaging 21 mpg combined; 2018 mild hybrid technology utilizing the 5.3-litre eAssist averaging 20 mpg in 2WD or 18 mpg in 4WD. | None |
| 2020-2026 | Representative combined EPA ratings for 2024 are up to 20 mpg for this 2.7-liter turbo in 2WD, 18 mpg for the 5.3-liter V8 also with 2WD, and 17 mpg for the 6.2-liter V8 in 4WD, according to configurations. | 3.0-liter Duramax diesel engine obtaining 26 mpg combined in the 2024 2WD versions and between 23-24 mpg in selected 4WD configurations | None, separate Silverado EV model excluded |
Its EPA rating was combined 21 mpg for 2WD and 20 mpg for 4WD, compared to about 16 mpg for similar conventional 5.3-liter models. Previous mild-hybrid trucks were equipped with another type of system. Neither of the types have an ability to plug-in, or an EPA plug-in range.
Eventually, diesel trucks made another important difference. For example, the 2024 two-wheel-drive rating is up to 26 mpg combined for the 3.0-liter Duramax diesel engine and 20 mpg for the 2.7-liter gasoline turbo engine, whereas some versions of the 5.3-liter engines come at 18 mpg. These figures refer only to specific engine configurations.
Factors like four-wheel drive, off-road tires, towing loads, idling and using air-conditioning in Arizona can cause differences in fuel consumption. Also, EPA methods and their labels changed, so comparisons with older trucks require a consistent rating methodology. The figures for Silverado EV can’t be applied to Silverado 1500.
Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Reliability & Common Problems
When it comes to a Silverado, following its service history and knowing precisely what kind of powertrain it has is more important than its general impression of durability. Older 4.8-liter V8 models lack the cylinder deactivation features found in many later V8 models.
| Model years | General reliability | Common age- or generation-related concerns |
|---|---|---|
| 1999 | Relatively simple designs of V6s and V8s rely on maintenance for their durability, while condition is more crucial than trim. | Wear on automatic transmissions, leakage of coolant, old hoses and seals, play in the steering, failure in the air conditioning, corrosion of frames and brake lines resulting from exposure of the previous vehicle to salt |
| 2000-2009 | Old simplicity of non-AFM V8 engines, great variations according to age, further necessity of diagnostics on modern AFM engines and Hybrid ones. | Transmission wear, instrument-cluster faults on some early trucks, applicable 2007-2009 AFM oil consumption, valvetrain noise, Hybrid battery deterioration, sun-damaged interior plastics |
| 2010-2019 | Specific evaluations conducted concerning engines and transmissions and repairs remembered as useful along with increase of hybrids and electronic devices in some versions. | Applicable AFM oil consumption and lifter concerns, 2015-2018 eight-speed torque-converter shudder, Hybrid or eAssist battery condition, cooling-system deterioration, warning lights, incomplete emissions monitors |
| 2020-2026 | Acquisition risk due to service history, checking gas engines separately from Duramax engines, and checking affected vehicles for defective recalls. | Certain 2021-2024 6.2-liter L87 engine recall, V8 lifter symptoms, transmission shift quality, diesel emissions-system faults, turbocharger operation, infotainment faults, VIN-specific recall checks |
Though vintage Silverados can represent a good buy if they have been properly taken care of, their age dictates the need for comprehensive checks for oil leaks, cooling system issues, problems with steering gears, and transmission problems like slipping and delays.
On applicable 2007-2013 V8 trucks, Active Fuel Management warrants specific oil consumption and valvetrain checks. Our investigation includes looking for oil consumption records, misfires, noise, and prior repairs. Also, some 2015-2018 eight-speed trucks need a warm road test for torque converter clutch shudder. Not every vehicle will exhibit these problems and a mere receipt for fluid service does not prove the transmission is sound.
Some 2021-2024 Silverado 1500s with the 6.2-liter L87 V8 engine are part of a recall regarding manufacturing defects involving the crankshaft or connecting rods. We rely on vehicle identification number verification and completed remedy documentation and do not simply assume that all the 6.2-liter vehicles are either recalled or fixed.
When it comes to Duramax trucks, assessment of the functioning of their emissions systems and service records is crucial, while older Hybrid vehicles need checks of batteries and perform diagnostics that require the intervention of specialists.
A follow-up of the specific engine maintenance plan is essential, especially after hard towing and under dusty conditions. In the case of any truck, a proper VIN-based recall check should be conducted with either Chevrolet or NHTSA.
